Tagging Guidelines
Figuring out how thorough something should be tagged can be difficult, but a good baseline would be to tag as thoroughly as you feel necessary, without being excessive.
For example, take the character V1 from Ultrakill. We should tag any content that includes him with series:ultrakill and character:v1_(ultrakill), but given the extent of this booru, it is not necessary to tag the specific details of a character or item's appearance, such as V1's wings, Duskdude's hat, etc. But of course, this is fairly basic and doesn't quite describe the content.
Is there a weapon in the art? Add the weapon tag and either what kind of weapon it is (ie: pistol, rifle, etc) or the name if it has a specific name (if it is one of our properties), like the riveter_(dusk) or the axe_of_the_black_labyrinth_(amid_evil). But it is not necessary to describe the state of the weapons, if they're firing, if the character has extra magazines, etc.
Is there an immediately recognizable location in the content? Feel free to tag the episode/level or real world landmark, such as limbo_(ultrakill) or eiffel_tower. If the characters are interacting with any objects in the scene it is fair to tag them as well, but avoid tagging anything that is part of the background or is not a point of focus for the content.
Is the content official or a piece of fan art? Tag it with official_art or fan_art respectively, and of course use the general art tag in either case, unless it's a meme or shitpost, in which case tag it accordingly. In all cases tag the artist appropriately, such as artist:comradejacob or artist:tat2kid714, and use the source field preferably to link directly back to the original upload, but it is also acceptable to use it as a general link back to the artist's twitter, artstation, etc.
And please, after you've uploaded your content, go back to it and give it a rating! Ratings in this case don't refer to the quality on a 5-star scale or anything, it instead refers to the level of explicit content. Unrated content is not visible to those without accounts due to the fact that we allow NSFW art and we won't always have someone around to catch when such content is uploaded, so rating your content ensures that the right people will be able to see it, especially if they're one of our younger fans who should not be viewing explicit content.
